Thursday: Third Week of Lent

I do not want you to be unaware,
brothers and sisters,
that our ancestors were all under the cloud
and all passed through the sea,
and all of them were baptized into Moses
in the cloud and in the sea.
All ate the same spiritual food,
and all drank the same spiritual drink,
for they drank from a spiritual rock
that followed them, and the rock was Christ.
Corinthians 10:1-5

Through Baptism and Confirmation, we all share in the anointing of Jesus. All Christians are called to share in the mission and ministry. The mission of Jesus has been and will always be to bring God`s saving love to the world. Jesus himself carried out the mission through his ministry of preaching, teaching, healing, educating, challenging and empowering.

Jesus` ministry continues in our time and through His body on earth - the Church - you and I - the living Eucharist. Let us pray together that each of us will take seriously the call, the invitation, and the challenge to pass on our faith, and proclaim its meaning by the way that we live.

In the love of Jesus,

For Reflection:
What does being Baptized and Confirmed mean to you as a Catholic Christian?

When in your life have you been invited - or heard the call - to share in the mission and ministry of bringing God’s saving love to others?

How can you answer the call to pass on your faith and proclaim its meaning by the way that you live?

In what way as an individual can you share in the mission and ministry of Jesus?

  1. Ever since I was a child I knew I wanted to be a nurse. I believe that was God's call to me at a very young age. I believe that what I do daily is a ministery to God's people. It is my mission to bring God's saving love to the patients I care for and my co- workers, by trying to be an example of Christ's love through my actions and words. I ask for his help because it is not always easy.

  3. I was privileged to see you in action in Nicaragua, Beth.
The way you relate to others, especially the sick and elderly,
    is definitely a ministry!

  4. You have a gift with the elderly Beth and those who are ill. It is a blessing you are answering that call. You are right in saying it is not always easy. Each day we must listen to the still small voice that calls us each to do what we must to BE love for those whom we serve.
