Friday: First Week of Lent

The devil said to him,
“If you are the Son of God,
command this stone to become bread.”
 Jesus answered him,
“It is written, One does not live on bread alone.”
Luke 4: 3

The cycle of the liturgy, like the seasons of nature, can add meaning and perspective and perhaps give strength in the times of challenge.

For Reflection:
Do liturgical seasons, feasts, or Scripture readings nourish you and keep your spiritual life alive?

How have you planned to let God nourish you during this Lenten season?

  1. For many years I have been nourished by Scripture and the liturgical seasons. This was especially true at St. Louis Parish, because the liturgy and accompanying art&environment
were so well planned for the seasons. These liturgical seasons were times of special nourishment. Praying with this blog is providing some of that nourishment for me. I'm also using PRAYING WITH THOMAS MERTON by Wayne Simsic this Lent, as follow-up to our January inter-parish retreat, and finding that nourishing.

  2. I am so happy that you are finding nourishment in Fr Lenny's blog and Thomas Merton. What all of the parishioners of St. Louis had was unique and special. How truly blessed you are all to experience that gift.

  3. I feel the seasons of the liturgy are like a song that connects our year full circle;each with its own stanza to the Song of our life
