Wednesday - Fourth Week of Lent

Brothers and sisters:
Whoever is in Christ is a new creation:
the old things have passed away;
behold, new things have come.
2 Corinthians 5:17

The one whose essence is existence invites and empowers all creatures to exist according to their essential reality or real nature.  For those beings created in the divine image – for human beings – an essential part of our nature is the capacity to choose.  When people choose harmony with the reality which is truth, they choose to be what God has intended. They choose to be all they are meant to be.

For Reflection:
In Christ, your true nature is revealed as a new creation.
What old things have passed away to reveal this real nature?

Who do you think God intends for you to be?

In what ways might you choose to be in harmony with your true nature – to be all that you are meant to be?

  1. I'm a loving, kind and contempletive creature by nature. I enjoy all the incredible gifts of nature, music, people that I have been blessed with. I know I MUST provide myself with time alone or the day to day issues cloud the vision that God allows my heart to see. "Be still and know that I am God" was on a poster my Freshman year at Regina and the verse has stayed deeply with me.

  2. Tina, "Be still and know that I am God" is my favorite saying this Lent. It reminds me that God is God. I can let go and trust. I also like "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience." That reminds me of my true nature. I think it comes from St. Augustine, but I'm not sure.
